Pre-Game: Reds vs. Mets 7:10 p.m.

The New York Mets will play the second game of a three game series against the Reds tonight. This is the final series of the season for the Mets and they are trying to finish their season strong. They lost yesterday after having the lead for most of the game. The bullpen again blew a one run lead and the Mets went on to lose 6-5 after getting the first two batters on base in the ninth. The Mets also made to costly base running mistakes that kept them from scoring more runs. Tonight the Mets have to play smarter to win the game.

Bronson Arroyo will start for the Reds looking to get a win. Arroyo is Bronson Arroyocoming off a complete game shutout of the Houston Astros. He was locked in from the first pitch. He went nine innings allowing six hits with two strikeouts. He really pitched well and gave the Reds a great start. He will try to continue his great pitching against the Mets tonight. Arroyo hasn’t had the season that he wanted, but his last start is a move in the right direction. He is a very established pitcher, but he hasn’t been great this year. In order for him to have a better season next year he has to bring his ERA down. Right now Arroyo has a ERA of 5.09 and was giving up lots of runs. The Mets need to somehow find a way to beat Arroyo tonight.

The Mets will start Chris Capuano hoping that he can give them a nice Chris Capuanostart. Capuano is looking to finish out his season with a win. If Capuano can get a win tonight he will finish his record at .500 at 12-12. In his last start Capuano went 4.2 innings against the Cardinals allowing four runs on eight hits. He really struggled to get outs and couldn’t get the job done. In order for the Mets to win tonight they will need Capuano to have a nice start tonight. This season hasn’t been the best for Capuano, but he did pitch well in his first full season back from injuries. He has given the Mets innings and has pitched better than expected. The Mets have to decide if Capuano can help this team next season, and I believe he can. He would be a nice addition to the rotation behind Johan Santana and R.A. Dickey.
