The New York Mets have hired Bob Geren as their next bench coach. This is according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. Adam Rubin broke news that the Mets were not going to hire Jim Riggleman as the bench coach.
Geren was the manager of the Oakland Athletics from 2007-2011 and had a 334-376 record over that five year span. He was fired on July 9th during his teams nine game losing streak.
