Final: Cowboys 16, Patriots 20

The New England Patriots hosted the Dallas Cowboys today at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots were looking to get their third straight victory with a win today. The Cowboys were looking to get a win after their bye week. This game was very important on the defensive side of the ball for both teams.

The first score came on the first drive of the game with a 31 yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski. Then the Cowboys would get a field goal to tie the game at the 3:21 mark in the first quarter. That would conclude the first quarter that was filled with turnovers galore. Then in the second quarter the Patriots would get another Gostkowski field goal to take the lead. Both teams were unable to get touchdowns early in the game, but that would change. At the 8:01 mark in the second quarter Tom Brady would find Wes Welker for a 5 yard touchdown pass to put the Patriots up by nine before the extra point. That touchdown was originally ruled out at the one yard line, but the Patriots would challenge and it would be ruled a touchdown. The Patriots would allow the Cowboys to come right back and score a touchdown. Going into halftime the Patriots led by three.

In the third quarter the Dallas Cowboys were able to get a field goal to tie the game at 13. The Patriots were unable to score despite having great field position. Aaron Hernandez fumbled the ball at the 17 yard line. This was a huge play because the Cowboys were poised to take the lead with a great drive. The Patriots were able to get them to punt. But the Patriots Tom Brady would throw his second interception of the day to give the Cowboys the ball back. The Cowboys would get a field goal to take a three point lead with 5:13 remaining.

The Patriots would be forced to punt in just their eighth third and out of the season. The Cowboys would punt the ball away and the Patriots would look to make a game winning drive. Tom Brady would get the offense down the field and would score on a touchdown pass to Aaron Hernandez. The Patriots would take the lead and go up by four points. This was the best drive for the Patriots for the day and they made it count. They would go on to win the game 20-16.
