Final: Jets 21, Patriots 30

The New England Patriots took on the New York Jets this afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots were trying to make it two wins in a row with a win and would hand the Jets their third straight lost.

In the first quarter the Patriots scored on a BenJarvus Green-Ellis three yard run to score the touchdown. He would give the Patriots a early 7-0 lead. The Patriots would get down the field into their territory, but were unable to convert and were forced to kick a field goal. The Patriots offense moved the ball down the field once they were able to get a couple of first downs. They would go into the half leading the Jets 10-7.

In the third quarter the Patriots scored on their opening drive of the second half on a two yard touchdown pass to Deion Branch from Tom Brady. That score gave the Patriots a 17-7 lead, but the Jets would get a quick score to cut the lead to ten. After a couple of series by both teams the Patriots BenJarvus Green-Ellis was able to score on a three yard run to bring the Patriots up by ten again. Green-Ellis ran the ball really well today and was able to get the Patriots a couple of scores.

The Patriots extended their lead on a Stephen Gostkowski 24 yard field goal giving the Patriots a 13 point advantage. But the Patriots defense would allow the Jets to complete their 11 play drive and allow a touchdown. The defense for the Patriots really struggled with limiting the amount of completions. They have to fix that in the coming weeks if they are going to get past some of the other teams. But the Patriots would get a 27 yard field goal from Gostkowski to give the Patriots a 30-21 lead.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis made his presence known  as he ran for 136 yards on 27 carries. He really ran the ball well and was able to score twice for the Patriots.

Game Notes:

  • Tom Brady completed 24 of his 33 attempts for 321 yards and a touchdown.
  • Deion Branch caught 7 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.
