The New England Patriots will host the Jets today at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots bounced back nicely last week against the Raiders and proved that they could run the ball. Stevan Ridley and BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a very successful day and showed that they could balance out the offense with the ability to run. It is very important that the Patriots get their running game going today, if not they could possibly lose the game. Passing the ball will be really tough because of the Jets ability to defend the pass well.
The Jets are coming in on a two game losing streak and are looking to get a win. This Jets team has struggled offensively and is ranked 24th in total of number of first downs. The Patriots defense will have to just try to limit the Jets offense from getting first downs and moving the ball down the field. Mark Sanchez is coming off a 119 yard performance with a 31% completion rate. The Patriots have to hold him to the same performance if they want to get a win.
Defense will be the big part in today’s game for the Patriots. They have to limit the Jets offense from taking leads and scoring touchdowns. The Patriots will be more successful if they can play defense consistently and stop the opposition from scoring points.
Keys to the Game:
- Brady needs to get off to a quick start and get to all of his receivers. Chad Ochocinco, Aaron Hernandez, Deion Branch, Wes Welker, and Rob Gronkowski all have to be ready to play at their best. Brady will need as many of them to have a great game as possible.
- Stevan Ridley and BenJarvus Green-Ellis have to run the ball hard and fast and keep the Patriots running game going as long as possible.
- The defensive line has to get a few sacks in this game. The Jets offensive line has allowed eleven sacks to Mark Sanchez this season. It has only been four games and if that continues Sanchez could possibly get hurt.
