Today is October 8th, 2011 and here are a few of the headlines making the news today.
Headlines:
- Chris Carpenter leads the Cardinals past the Phillies 1-0
- Nyjer Morgan sends the Brewers to the NLCS with a walk-off single.
- New York Rangers lose season opener 3-2 in overtime to the LA Kings.
- Minnesota Lynx win their first WNBA Title
The top story has to be the Phillies lost to the Cardinals. Every single person on the planet thought that the Phillies would at least reach the World Series. Chris Carpenter really showed why he is a great pitcher. He was able to beat Roy Halladay to get his team into the NLCS. This was a great game from start to finish mainly because of the great defensive plays by both teams. My prediction is that the Brewers will win a very close series with the Cardinals. I don’t see the Cardinals beating the Brewers simply because of their starting pitching and bullpen. Need I also say that they have two of the best hitters in the league. Who would have thought that both the Yankees and the Phillies would get knocked out in the first round of action.
