Today is October 7th and this is Today’s Headlines:
- Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 3-2
- Tiger Woods struggled in day one of the Frys.com Open.
- Robin Ventura is named new Manager of the Chicago White Sox.
- Oregon Ducks win big, but lose RB LeMichael James with an arm injury.
- The Boston Bruins lost their season opener to the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1.
The top story of the day had to be the Yankees lost to the Tigers. In that game the Yankees failed to capitalize on any opportunities that they had. Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira struggled the entire series and were a factor in the Yankees losing the series. The top team in the American League has been eliminated and now the Tigers will go on to face the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series. Earlier in the season the problem with the Yankees were their pitching. The pitching kept them in games, but their offense lacked the big hit. Now the Yankees will start another off-season with questions and uncertainty. Jorge Posada possibly played his last game as a Yankee. He had a great series in the Yankees five games. Being one of the most scrutinized players on the Yankees roster Posada played very well. This offseason will defiantly be a busy one for the Yankees who have been knocked out of the playoffs two years in a row.
Be sure to leave comments on what you think is the top story of the day and explain why.
