Final: Eagles get routed by the Patriots 38-20

The New England Patriots faced the Philadelphia Phillies today at Lincoln Financial Field. The Patriots were looking for their third win and prevent the Eagles from making up ground in their division. The Eagles came out strong and were taking advantage of the Patriots secondary. Lesean McCoy was able to get the first score of the game on a two yard run. This game the Eagles a 7-0 lead over the Patriots who looked overmatched in the early going in this game. The Eagles would get a field goal to lead 10-0 with 8:23 remaining in the first quarter. The next drive for the Patriots would last 6:52 minutes as BenJarvus Green-Ellis was able to cap off the drive with a 4 yard touchdown run. The first quarter ended with a score of 10-7 in favor of the Eagles.

The Patriots received the ball to start the second quarter and they used four plays for 61 yards capped by a BenJarvus Green-Ellis one yard run. The Patriots couldn’t of had a better drive than that one. Tom Brady was able to find Deion Branch for 63 yards that led to the one yard run by Green-Ellis. The Patriots know led 14-10 and were starting to look like an unstoppable team. Later in the second quarter the Patriots would get a five play drive captivated by a 41 yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Wes Welker. The Eagles left Welker wide open down the field and Brady was able to find him for the score. After a Eagles field goal Stephen Gostkowski was able to hit a field goal of his own to put the Patriots up 24-13. This was the best that the Patriots have looked in the first half in a while. They were able to get scores and keep the Eagles offense off the field for most of the second quarter.

In the third quarter the Patriots received the ball first looking to strike and put the game at a huge disadvantage for the Eagles. The Patriots were able to put together a eight play drive that led to a Tom Brady nine yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker, bringing the score to 31-13. This was the first time in this game in which the Patriots really looked like they were going to win this game. The Patriots looked deadly on offense tonight. They were able to get into an offensive rhythm tonight and took advantage of the Eagles horrible defense. The third quarter ended with the score of 31-13 in favor of the Patriots.

In final quarter the Patriots succeeded on 14 play drive lasting 7:27 minutes when Tom Brady found Rob Gronkowski for a 24 yard touchdown pass. The Patriots now led 38-13 in a rout over the Eagles. This was the best the Patriots offense looked since week 1 when they faced the Miami Dolphins. Tom Brady picked the Eagles offense apart and made them look silly trying to contain him. The importance of this win keeps the Patriots up two games over the Jets.

Tom Brady was taken out of the game in the fourth quarter. Brian Hoyer was given his first opportunity to run the offense. Hoyer would just hand the ball off to the different running backs to kill the clock. The Patriots went on to win the game 38-20 in a rout over the Eagles. Tom Brady had a great game as he threw for 361 yards with three touchdowns. The Eagles looked flat after they took a 10-0 lead. They allowed the Patriots to come into their building and blow them out. The Patriots now have a 8-3 record and are leading the Jets in their division by two games.
