Final: Colts 24, Patriots 31

The New England Patriots faced the Indianapolis Colts today at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots were looking for their fourth win in a row and hand the Colts their 12th lost of the season. The opening quarter saw little scoring for both teams as the Patriots were able to get a three run lead on a Stephen Gostkowski 39 yard field goal. The Colts would get a field goal after they were able to hold the ball 10 minutes and 19 seconds for 19 plays.

But Tom Brady would get his offense going when he threw a 11 yard pass to Rob Gronkowski for a score. Then with 18 seconds left to play in the first half BenJarvus Green-Ellis would get a rushing touchdown to extend the Patriots lead to 17-3. This was the best the offense has looked in the first half in a while.

The third quarter with the Patriots receiving the ball first. The Colts defense would soon be overmatched by the offense of the Patriots as they allowed Tom Brady to find Rob Gronkowski for a 21 yard touchdown. This was the 13th touchdown of the season for Gronkowski who is starting to get better week by week. That touchdown also extended the Patriots lead to 24-3. Later in the third quarter the Patriots Tom Brady lateralled to Rob Gronkowski for a two yard run. At first it looked like Tom Brady passed the ball forward, but replay showed that Gronkowski was actually behind Brady which made the play a rushing play. The lead now stood at 31-3 in favor of the Patriots and the rout was on.

The Colts would get a touchdown run to cut the Patriots lead to 21 points. The Colts had a nice drive of 15 plays for 86 yards lasting eight minutes and 49 seconds. The Patriots would struggled offensively for the rest of the game as Tom Brady was taken out of the game late in the fourth quarter as Brian Hoyer replaced him. The Colts did creep back into the game late in the fourth quarter as they were able to get a 33 yard touchdown to bring the score to 31-17 in favor of the Patriots.

The game was closed out with the Patriots defense struggling as they allowed the Colts to come back and score. The Patriots would win in a closer finish then they initially wanted. The Patriots won 31-24 in a win over the lowly Colts. This was the ninth win for the Patriots of the season.
