Tonight the New York Knicks will play the Sacramento Kings. The Knicks announced before the game that forward Amar'e Stoudemire will miss tonight’s game with a sprained ankle. This is a huge empty slot for the Knicks who will now have to find someone to fill Stoudemire’s void.
The Knicks are coming off a lost to the Los Angeles Laker in which the Knicks offense was held to just ten points in the fourth quarter. This game was very disappointing from the Knicks stand point simply because they were unable to take advantage of the absence of Andrew Bynum. The Knicks were lost offensively and at times were moving to fast to get the proper shot.
They struggled to hit shots and the more they missed the more they shot. They have to learn that if the shot isn’t working they have to take the ball to the hoop. Carmelo Anthony did the best he could, but he even struggled as he scored 27 points. He had a nice game, but led the team with five turnovers. Tonight Anthony will have to score the ball often and accurately.
The Knicks will have to get something out of their bench, who has struggled to start this season. Last game Steve Novak led the Knicks bench with just six points. The Knicks have a scoring bench, but they haven’t scored the way they have wanted to.
This game is very important for the Knicks because if they win they will walk away with a 1-2 road trip rather than a 0-3 road trip. Look for Toney Douglas to have a big game tonight.
