The New York Knicks will start their first road trip of the season tonight as they take on the Golden State Warriors. This is the first of three road games the Knicks will play this week. The Knicks are looking for a win tonight and start 2-0 for the first time since 99-00 when they started 3-0. The Knicks will be without Iman Shumpert for 2-4 weeks as he sprained his MCL in Sunday’s win over the Boston Celtics. The Knicks added Jeremy Lin to the roster and he will be in uniform tonight wearing number 17.
Earlier today the Knicks announced that Mike Bibby will make his Knicks season debut tonight. Bibby played in both pre-season games, but back spasms kept him sidelined for the first game of the season.
The Knicks are coming off a win against the Celtics behind the 37 points from Carmelo Anthony. This was game showed how dominant Anthony can be and why he is one of the dangerous players in the league. Anthony scored 17 points in the fourth quarter after playing minimally in the third quarter. The important thing was that the Knicks were able to comeback and win after trailing in the fourth quarter.
The defense for the Knicks struggled at times in that game, but Tyson Chandler led the defense with six blocks. The Knicks will rely on Chandler to anchor their defense and get them some key stops. Chandler was targeted by the Warriors in the offseason, but decided to sign with the Knicks.
Tonight the Knicks face a Warriors team that will probably be without Stephen Curry who reinjured his ankle on Monday against the Bulls. This is the second time Curry has injured his ankle this season. Also, David Lee will look to play well against his former team the Knicks. In his first game against the Knicks last season, Lee scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
This will be a nice test for the Knicks who will go up against a nice scoring team. The Knicks will need to play defense and keep the Warriors off the boards if they want a win tonight.
