Pre-Season: Nets vs. Knicks 7:30 PM

The New York Knicks will play the New Jersey Nets tonight at the newly renovated Madison Square Garden. This will be the final preseason game between the two teams as both continue to prepare for the regular season. The Knicks won the first preseason game on Saturday as they were able to win 92-83. This second game will be very important for two players. Those players are Landry Fields and Toney Douglas. Both are being viewed as the two that could possibly be replaced later on this season. Douglas didn’t have a bad game, but his points production as a starter were down. He scored just 5 points, but he did dish out 5 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds. Overall the Knicks are expecting more from Douglas this year simply because they could put someone else in his position. Mike Bibby, Iman Shumpert, and Baron Davis all could serve as the possible replacements for Douglas and Fields.

Tonight Iman Shumpert needs to come out and have a similar performance that he had in his last game. He won many fans over with his play after many thought that the Knicks should have drafted someone else. Shumpert scored 16 points in his last game in 26 minutes. If he can be consistent to start the season, the Knicks will more likely put him in the starting rotation.

Carmelo Anthony played well in his debut as he scored 17 points in 22 minutes. He was able to hit nice shots, but you could see some rust from him. Anthony should get closer to 30 minutes tonight as the season starts on Sunday. His teammate Amar'e Stoudemire has to find his shot tonight because scoring 10 points in just 25 minutes isn’t good enough. This is the preseason so the numbers really don’t matter, but you want to see players have success early on, so that it could carry on to the regular season.

The Nets will try to keep the Knicks down tonight, but the Knicks will have their way with the Nets. Tonight’s game will feel like a late season regular season game and at times may feel like a playoff game. Many fans have been waiting to see the Knicks on their home court for a long time and tonight is the night they return. Also after the game be sure to come back and read the postgame post on tonight’s contest against the Nets. Leave comments below in support of the New York Knicks!
