According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks are finalizing a trade that will send Ronny Turiaf to the Washington Wizards. It isn’t clear if the Knicks will get any thing in return in the trade, but Berman writes that the Knicks will likely offer cash with Turiaf in the trade.
Via Marc Berman of the NY Post:
The Knicks are in the final stages of sending Ronny Turiaf's $4.2 million contract to Washington and could be completed tonight, according to sources.
That would complete the Tyson Chandler bonanza as the Knicks would have enough room to move under the salary cap after waiving Chauncey Billups by the amnesty clause. The Turiaf trade was the holdup to the deal being official. It does not appear the Knicks would receive anything in return and will likely have to give the Wizards cash to pay for part of his pact.
The new CBA states a team can add a total of $3 million in trades in a full year.
