The New York Knicks traveled to Memphis to face the Grizzles. This game started bad and ended bad for the Knicks. Carmelo Anthony injured is left wrist in the first quarter and then in the 3rd quarter Anthony sprained his right ankle. He would leave in the 3rd quarter and wouldn’t return. This was a major blow to the Knicks who struggled once Anthony went down. Anthony scored 14 points in 20 minutes of action. X-Rays on Anthony’s ankle were negative and Anthony is day-to-day.
Amare Stoudemire started the game committing two early fouls which stopped him from getting into the rhythm of the game. Stoudemire scored 6 points in 20 minutes of action. He has to play better in the Knicks next game simply because it is unknown if Carmelo Anthony can go in the next game. Both players are very valuable to the Knicks and if one goes down the next guy must step up.
This game was lost simply because the Knicks were never able to come out with energy. The game started and the Knicks looked as if they just got out of bed. It is important to come out with energy and if you can’t do that then the game is lost. The bench for the Knicks played well in the fourth quarter and at one point cut the Grizzles lead down to 14 points. But still the Knicks went on to lose the game.
Bill Walker was very sharp off the bench as he scored 14 points with 4 three pointers. Walkers has to continue his excellent production off the bench in what is a huge need for the Knicks.
The Knicks lost this game 94-83 in a blow out, but the Knick bench was able to cut the deficit down. The Knicks will now focus on the Oklahoma City Thunder whom they face on Saturday.
