Knicks hold off Bobcats 91-87

The New York Knicks faced the Charlotte Bobcats tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks were looking for their third straight win if they could beat the Bobcats. This game started terrible for the Knicks as the Bobcats were able to jump out to a 10-0 lead. But the Knicks would comeback into the game quickly using their ability to get to the hoop. They scored the ball well in the post and on the fast break during the first quarter. The Knicks went on to score 24 points and  held the Bobcats to just 21 points to end the first quarter.

The Knicks were running their offense fluid and were able to play better on the defensive end. Their defense wasn’t it’s best, but they were able to get great deflections and rebounded the ball really well. This game tested the Knicks on both ends of the floor, but they were able to fight through everything and edge out a win.

Iman Shumpert started his second game of his young career and he played very well. Shumpert scored 16 points in 34 minutes of action. He left the game early with cramps, but overall Shumpert played very well and had the Knicks offense moving in the right direction. This Knicks team needed a spark and Shumpert has given them that since he has returned from injury.

Carmelo Anthony didn’t have a nice game, but somehow managed to score 22 points. He did struggle tonight, but Anthony was able to get to the line and get some free points. Anthony had six turnovers tonight and in someway seemed to force the action tonight. At some points Anthony put the Knicks in bad spots where they had to play perfect on the defensive end to get the win.

Amare Stoudemire played big in the second quarter as he lead the Knicks in scoring with his 25 points. He rebounded the ball really well tonight as he grabbed 12 rebounds. He played really well early on and was a leader for the Knicks.

Surprisingly the Knicks only made one three point shot in this game. They attempted ten threes the entire game which is a season low. One thing the Knicks struggled with was their production from their bench. They only scored three points for the entire game with four guys playing. The Knicks will need a better effort from their bench if they are going to go far this season.

The Knicks will play Philadelphia 76ers at 7:30 PM at Madison Square Garden looking for their fourth straight win.
