Melo’ returns as Knicks destroy the Pistons; 113-86

The New York Knicks were looking to snap a three game losing streak tonight as they faced the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks were happy to get Carmelo Anthony back from injury after he missed two games with varies injuries. This game seemed to be what the Knicks needed as they were able to blow the Pistons out.

The Knicks came out with energy and looked to get each other involved. They scored 33 points in that opening quarter and led by 9 at the close of the first quarter. They were very active on both end of the floor and were able to limit the Pistons from getting any consistency. The Knicks defense has been a lot better this season and they were able to show that tonight. Of course they beat up on a terrible team, but they were still able to play great defense.

Carmelo Anthony was spectacular in his return as he scored 25 points and dished out 6 assists. He did everything well tonight and was able to shoot the ball with more efficiency. He was also able to get the ball to open teammates which led to scores. If Anthony can get at least 5 assists a night the Knicks can be very good. Amare Stoudemire scored 15 pts tonight and helped get the Knicks off to a nice start tonight. He didn’t look to shoot much which led to less points.

The team played excellent tonight and Landry Fields helped get the offense rolling as he was able to score 18 points. Fields had 16 points at the half, but his points early on helped to build the Knicks lead. This is the Fields that has to show up each night. If he can become more consistent the Knicks will be very dangerous.

Tyson Chandler continues to have a nice season as he scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He continues to be the force the Knicks needed on the defensive end. And now Chandler is starting to score the ball with more regularity.

This was another good effort from the Knicks who needed a win. Now the Knicks will have to focus all of their attention on Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. This was a very successful night, but they need to show the same intensity on Thursday.
