The New York Knicks will be looking to snap their six game losing streak tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Knicks are coming off a lost to the Denver Nuggets in a tough game. The Knicks struggled in the second half which allowed the Nuggets to get back in the game. This game showed that the Knicks are close to winning, but still have to figure out how to play a full game and not quarters.
After that game on Saturday the Knicks announced that Josh Harrellson would miss six weeks with a fractured right wrist. In fact Harrellson had surgery on his wrist today. Harrellson was a nice person to come off the bench simply because he could hit shots and rebound. Now the Knicks will have to look for someone who can provide the same type of energy.
Tonight the Knicks are looking to get a win against the Bobcats who are also struggling. Both of these teams haven’t played consistent basketball and has resulted in terrible records.
For the Knicks the struggles of Amare Stoudemire haven’t gone unnoticed. He is disappearing in games possibly from the lack of a true point guard. Carmelo Anthony is scoring the ball, but is taking too many shots to get those points. The two have been noticeably quiet over this stretch of games. Possibly the trade rumors are getting to Stoudemire or he is upset that the ball isn’t coming his way.
During the last game the second unit thrived when Anthony was on the bench. There was ball movement and guys weren’t afraid to shoot. Once Anthony was put back in the Knicks started to go cold offensively. Players weren’t shooting once Anthony returned and they seemed frustrated that the ball wasn’t moving.
Tonight the Knicks have to get the ball moving and get some easy scores. This team thrives when the ball moves, but when Anthony starts the second half with all of the isolation the Knicks struggle. The important thing for the Knicks is to sustain what’s working and keep going with that. Once they change their offense struggles.
The Bobcats will be without D.J. Augustin for tonight’s game against the Knicks. Augustin has a inflamed big toe and will miss the next four games. The Bobcats said that Kemba Walker would get the start tonight. They have been very up and down, but against the Knicks they have played them very tough. Expect them to come out wanting to defeat the Knicks again.
The Knicks are in need of a win and tonight is the night they have to win. If the Knicks lose tonight expect some sort of action in the form of a trade or firing of a coach. This is a game the Knicks need to start their week off right. Let’s go Knicks!
