Pre-Game: Knicks vs. Pistons 7:30 PM

The New York Knicks are looking to close out a short two game road trip with a win against the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks won last night against the Washington Wizards after they trailed by 16 points in the first quarter. That game was very important for the Knicks to win because they were on a two game losing streak against two lower tier teams. But their win over the Wizards will give them some confidence and spark them to wanting to win tonight.

Carmelo Anthony was spectacular last night as he scored 37 points in 36 minutes. He continues to show that he is an excellent player and is a leader of the team. His problem is picking up unwanted fouls and that has led to him siting on the bench to end quarters. Tonight Anthony is poised to have another great game, but he will be guarded by Tayshaun Prince who can really defend.

Amare Stoudemire looked much better as the game went on. His jumper was not falling, but Stoudemire was able to drive the ball and score. He scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. His success will come from his jump shot and his ability to score. One thing he needs to work on is his defense. Stoudemire is allowing the opposition to score at will and is making it hard for the Knicks to stop the ball. Stoudemire will have another great game simply because the Pistons can not stop both he and Carmelo.

The back court for the Knicks will be Toney Douglas and Landry Fields. But not for long. Iman Shumpert and Mike Bibby played very well together and could possibly replace both Douglas and Fields. Shumpert made the game easier for the Knicks offense as he dished out 7 assists. He really showed that he could pass the ball and score the ball. Not only has Shumpert showed what he could do on the offensive end, but he is playing excellent defense. Last night Shumpert had a career-high 5 steals. He is going to start soon and Douglas and Fields may find themselves on the bench.

Mike Bibby played very well scoring 11 points and dished out 3 assists. He needs to produce like this every game because he still has some game left. The importance of Bibby is that he gives the Knicks another option at the point guard position.

Tonight the Knicks need to come out with energy and play at their best. Stoudemire and Anthony do not need to play the entire game. So if they can come out and blow the Pistons out. Lastly, the bench scored 25 points last night. If they can contribute like that, it would make the game much easier.
