The New York Knicks will face the Houston Rockets without their star in Carmelo Anthony. It was announced yesterday that Anthony would sit two games to rest his various injuries. Last night Anthony didn’t play against the Heat, but the team played better than expected even the lost.
The Knicks are hoping that Amare Stoudemire can be more productive tonight after his 12 point performance last night. Stoudemire seemed to just watch the other guys move the ball rather than get in the act himself. As a star Stoudemire needs to do more to help the team.
The backcourt of Toney Douglas and Iman Shumpert hasn’t worked out yet. This game could possibly have ramifications on whether either of the two will start come next week. Shumpert has struggled the last week and a half and could possibly find his way back to the bench. When Shumpert came off the bench the Knicks had excellent energy from him with scoring. Now Shumpert is struggling to find his shot and is turning the ball over.
The play of Bill Walker last night was amazing as he scored a season high 21 points. Walkers really kept the Knicks in the game on his hot shooting. All of Walkers points were earned from behind the three point arc. His production is increasing since he is seeing more minutes during Anthony’s absence.
This game is a test for the Knicks simply because the Rockets can score the ball. They have to limit the Rockets ability to get on the fast break. This game could possibly be a matchup nightmare for the Knicks who will have to contain Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry, and Kevin Martin.
If the Knicks can somehow pull out a win tonight they could give themselves a boost of confidence that they need. This game will be tough for the Knicks, but if they can stop Houston from shooting the ball they will win this game.
