The New York Knicks will play the Detroit Pistons tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are coming off a lost to the Houston Rockets, which gave them three losses in a row. Earlier today the Knicks stated that forward Carmelo Anthony would be a game-time decision tonight. Anthony is expected to try the ankle before the game tonight. The Knicks are really missing Anthony at key moments in games where they need a score. This game tonight is a game that Anthony can sit out and the Knicks win.
This is a game the Knicks need simply because their home and in need of a win. Amare Stoudemire will be the center of attention tonight as he goes up against a terrible Pistons defense. This is a game where Stoudemire has to lead the team and help get them back on track. Stoudemire is disappearing from games and is noticeably absent when the Knicks are looking for a score. He needs to become more vocal and be aggressive on the offensive end, but not force the action. His effectiveness is very low right now when he steps on the court. If Stoudemire takes what the defense gives him, he will easily score tonight.
The Knicks will be looking for their backcourt to play better tonight. Toney Douglas needs to step up and shoot the ball less. Every night Douglas takes terrible shots that hurt the team. He is also turnover prone and is lacking the ability to react quickly. Most defensives are able to pin point where he is going on the floor and then make him turn the ball over. The Knicks will also be looking to Iman Shumpert to step up tonight. Shumpert is currently in a slump that has gone back to when he has started to start games. He has been struggling on the offensive end, but his defense has been very good. Tonight expect Shumpert to come out with energy and help give the Knicks an easier chance to win the game.
Tonight’s game can be watched locally on MSG and starts at 7:30 PM live from Madison Square Garden.
