Bulls beat Knicks 105-102

The New York Knicks faced the Chicago Bulls tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks were looking for their second win in a row and their second win against a above .500 team. This was a game the Knicks were looking to get to start their back to back to back. This game was led by the Bulls the entire way and they were able to match every Knick run. One thing that killed the Knicks tonight was that second quarter when they turned the ball over too many times.

The Knicks lost this game 105-102 to a very goodAmare Stoudemire Bulls team. Amare Stoudemire was awesome tonight despite the lost. Stoudemire scored a game high 34 points which is also his season high. This was the first time this season that Stoudemire was able to score over 25 points in a game this season. The Knicks went to him early and often and he was able to score. This was the breakout game the Knicks were looking for from Stoudemire. But the question now will be, how much energy with he have tomorrow night against the Celtics?

Carmelo Anthony had a excellent game as he scored 26 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Anthony had a chance to hit the tying basket, but missed on the half court try. The Knicks played really well tonight, but the second quarter really came back to haunt them. In that second quarter the Knicks allowed the Bulls to score 26 points to their 19 points that really made it hard to come back. The Knicks had plenty of opportunities to win this game, but they never were able to hit the big basket to give themselves the lead.

Toney Douglas was simply terrible on the defensive end and every time he came into the game the Bulls were able to pull away again. The Knicks need more of an effort from him. He continues to struggle with his game and is starting to look more lost in the Knicks system. If this keeps up Douglas will find himself on another team.

The Knicks have to look at this game and learn from it. Even in the lost the Knicks found out that moving the ball does work and that Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire could co-exist. The main issue is not having a true point guard that could disperse the shots properly.

The Knicks will travel to Boston to take on the Celtics tomorrow night at 8:00 PM. The Knicks can not hang their head after this tough lost, but simply build on their successes.
