Hornets end Knicks winning streak; Win 89-85

The New York Knicks came into the night looking for their eighth straight win against the lowly New Orleans Hornets. The Knicks would come out flat and out of sync early on. The Knicks mustered up just 13 points in the opening quarter and trailed the Hornets by 14 points. As a team being down early always comes back to Amare Stoudemirehaunt the team. And that was the case in this game. The Knicks would lose by four points and if they came out with the energy they closed the game with, they would have easily won this game.

Jeremy Lin struggled in the first half as he committed 8 turnovers. Lin seemed to force the action tonight and that really made it tough on the Knicks. Lin did finish with 26 points and 5 assists. He played well in spurts and tried his best to get the Knicks the win tonight. Every night Lin cannot be the hero and someone else has to play better. Amare Stoudemire played great offensively as he scored 26 points, but defensively he continues to struggle. Stoudemire continues to get beat back door and is ball watching rather than seeing his man and the ball. That is his only issue and if he can get that in check the team will flourish.

Trevor Ariza really out played the Knicks tonight as he scored 25 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ariza really played a great game which led to a Hornets win. The Hornets as a team played very good defense and took advantage of the terrible play of the Knicks.

The Knicks missed free throws early on and for the game they missed 10 free throws that could have won them the game. Also the 21 turnovers made this one more unpleasant. As a team turnovers will always make the game even harder. The Knicks tonight failed to run a fluid offense consistently to win this game. The Knicks will now face the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, but they will get back Carmelo Anthony and newly signed JR Smith.
