The New York Knicks faced the Washington Wizards shorthanded as they were without Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. They were hoping that they could some how get another win without their two stars.
Tonight Jeremy Lin put together another spectacular game. He had 23 points and dished out 10 assists. This was the first career double-double for Lin and he continues to astonish teams and is proving that he could be the fix to all of the Knicks offensive problems. This has been an amazing three games from Lin who has scored 20+ points in those games. “Linsanity” is the new word concerning Jeremy Lin. This level of play he is at gives Knick fans everywhere hope that the Knicks can make a run in the playoffs.
Steve Novak continues to play great as he scored 19 points for the second straight game. Novak continues to score at a high rate thanks to the great point guard play from Jeremy Lin. He is finding his spot and delivering for the Knicks time and time again. The Knicks needed scoring from their bench and he supplied that tonight. And not to be overlooked was the play of Iman Shumpert who scored 17 points off the bench. Shumpert took the ball to the hoop and it worked for him. If he can get that aspect of his game to work consistently he could be a nice player in this league.
Tonight Mike D’Antoni played Mike Bibby off the bench and Toney Douglas didn’t see any minutes. It was only a matter of time before Douglas saw his job taken. The first time it was Iman Shumpert and now it’s Jeremy Lin. Bibby will now take over as the other guard off the bench for right now until Douglas can turn his game around.
This was a very important game for the Knicks and they delivered. As a team they are playing really hard and are showing that they can win without their stars. But they will have a tough challenge Friday night as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at 8:00 PM.
