The New York Knicks hosted the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden tonight. The Knicks were trying to bounce back from their lost against the New Jersey Nets on Monday night. This game was over pretty quickly as the Knicks were able to play a great team game which won them the game.
The Knicks were able to get everyone involved and it started with Jeremy Lin. He was able to get the pace started for the Knicks which led to easy opportunities. Lin scored 17 points and dished out 9 assists.
Lin had some spectacular passes to Carmelo Anthony tonight. Anthony was able to get himself involved as well. He scored 15 points, but didn’t need to score 30 for the Knicks to win tonight. Tomorrow Anthony will have to be able to score against one of the toughest defenses in the league.
Amare Stoudemire scored just 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds tonight. He played much better defense and rebound the ball well. He needs to get his consistent shot back and he will be fine. Every game Stoudemire seems to have easy looks, but is missing his open opportunities.
The Knicks had excellent contributions from Landry Fields, Steve Novak, JR Smith, and Baron Davis. Those players really helped in building a solid lead. Baron Davis passed the ball really well in his 14 minutes of play as he dished out 6 assists. Of course Davis had 5 turnovers, but he hasn’t play in a while so that is to be expected. Steve Novak scored the ball really well tonight as he scored 17 points. He continues to hit the three point shot the Knicks were lacking to start this season. He is becoming more consistent for the Knicks and his defensive game has really picked up.
The Knicks won big tonight, but will have to celebrate another night and focus their attention on the Miami Heat. That game will be an away for the Knicks and will start at 7:00 PM on TNT. This Knicks team showed tonight that if they play a team game they will win every night. This team is much deeper than the begin of the season and now can make a solid runs to the playoffs.
