The New York Knicks were looking to get their second win in a row against a tough Utah Jazz team. The Knicks were without Amare Stoudemire who missed the game due to the death of his brother. The Knicks started Jeremy Lin and Jared Jeffries tonight hoping for the same production from their last game.
The Knicks started this game, but quickly Carmelo Anthony injured
his right groin and had to leave. Anthony never returned, but during the fourth quarter returned in street close. Anthony did score 2 points and had a rebound and an assists. But the Knicks would quickly figure things out without him as Jeremy Lin put together another great game scoring 28 points and dishing out 8 assists. Lin is looking like the solution to the Knicks problems offensively. He is also playing very good defense as he had two steals tonight. The Knicks offense seems more balanced and the ball is moving more freely. This Knicks offense looked dangerous tonight without its two primary scorers.
Then Lin was able to get Steve Novak involved as he scored 19 points in this game. Novak hit 5 three pointers off the bench and looked comfortable hitting the open shots. The Knicks were able to get the 40 points off the bench. This was another great game for the Knicks who have struggled this season, but these last few games have given the fan base hope.
A very instrumental part of the Knicks success was Jared Jeffries who drew 5 charging violations. Jeffries also scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. This is the second straight game that Jeffries has scored over eight points in a game. If Jeffries can keep up his efforts, he can help the Knicks in even more ways.
The story of the night was Jeremy Lin and his ability to get the offense rolling. Lin did play 45 minutes tonight, but he was very effective for every minute he was on the floor. The Knicks will face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday as they head on the road for one game. This is what Knicks basketball is all about, someone who can energize the team and the fans.
