The New York Knicks are finally back to .500 with tonight’s 89-80 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks were without Amare Stoudemire (back) and Jeremy Lin (knee) in this game, but they still found a way to get the win.
Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks tonight as he scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Anthony was getting to the line with a purpose and made all 12 of his free throws. He did get injured late in the game, but
was able to play through the pain. Apparently Anthony reinjured his right groin that has been bothering him all season. Hopefully he can go on Wednesday night against the Magic.
Baron Davis started for the injured Jeremy Lin tonight and Davis had a very good game. Despite his 9 turnovers Davis was able to score 13 points and dished out 7 assists. Davis played very well tonight and gave the Knicks a nice effort. He played a season high 34 minutes tonight and did well during his time on the floor. The Knicks really have to be happy with what they were able to receive from him. Davis will likely be the starter until Jeremy Lin returns sometime this week.
The Knicks were keyed in defensively tonight and in the second half holding the Bucks to just 28 points in that half. This was a very tough offensive game for the Knicks, but they were able to play hard on the defensive end to give them easy shots. They were very good rebounding tonight as they out rebounded the Bucks 54-41.
Tyson Chandler was in foul trouble most of the night, but was able to make some very big defensive plays late in the game. Chandler scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds tonight. He was very effective in getting the offensive rebounds as he grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Knicks will face the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in another big game. From here on out, every Knicks game will be a big game. Tonight the Knicks were able to put a 2.5 game lead over the Bucks and win the season series.
