Hawks beat the Knicks 100-90

The New York Knicks looked like a team coming off a back to back in tonight’s lost to the Hawks. What made tonight’s loss hurt was the slow start the Knicks had. Their defense was very lackluster and they allowed the Hawks to out hustle them. But one thing the Knicks did was try to fight. At one point the Knicks were able to cut the Hawks lead to just two points, but never were able to get the lead.

Carmelo Anthony tried his hardest to get the team the win tonight. Anthony scored 36 points and grabbed 9 rebounds tonight. He was very active on the defensive end as he had 5 steals. This lost really doesn’t hurt because the Knicks fought their hardest to try to get the win. Anthony and Iman Shumpert played their best yet again, but this time it came in a lost. Shumpert scored 25 points tonight and shot the ball exceptionally well. He seems to have more arc on his shots and that aspect is paying off.

The bench production was at a minimum tonight as the bench only scored 14 points in this game. That is where their was a major drop off along with the lack of production from the other three starters. This game was just a learning night for the Knicks who have played well over the last couple of weeks and have only have two losses during Mike Woodson’s era as head coach. The Knicks are now back at .500 after going above .500 since the beginning of the season.

The Knicks will have to get their act together quickly because they face the Cleveland Cavaliers tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden. After the 76ers loss and the Celtics win the Knicks failed to gain ground in the Atlantic Division. Also, the Milwaukee Bucks won so the Knicks lead over them is slowly dwindling again.
