The New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 91-75 in front of a rowdy Madison Square Garden crowd. The Knicks learned before the game that Jeremy Lin would be out the next six weeks with a tear of his meniscus in his left knee.
The Knicks would fight through this game as they struggled with turnovers tonight. As a team they committed 17 turnovers. This group has to learn that turnovers can cause you to lose games, but somehow tonight they were able to get past the Cavaliers.
JR Smith played a major role in this game as he scored 20 points to lead the team. Smith also had 9 rebounds and 5 steals. He really had an impact on this game not only from his offense, but from his defense. He created opportunities for the team which helped the Knicks with all the turnovers from the team. When Smith is on, the Knicks will be very tough to beat and tonight Smith was able to prove that point.
The Knicks played a very inconsistent game tonight, but were still able to win the game. Carmelo Anthony had 19 points tonight. He seemed tired at times, but that is to be expected. He did everything he could to get the Knicks the win tonight. As the leader of the team Anthony played very hard. Even when the calls were against Anthony, he was able to come back and have an impact on the game.
The Knicks needed a win and were able to get it done. The Knicks will now rest for a couple of days before their game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. The Knicks now have a record of 27-26 and have won 7 straight at home.
