The New York Knicks played the Portland Trail Blazers tonight at Madison Square Garden. Tonight was the first game that the Knicks were without Mike D’Antoni after he resigned earlier today. Mike Woodson was named the interim head coach.
This game was a blow out from the beginning as the Knicks led for most of the game. Carmelo Anthony started off hot and kept his game going for the entire night. Anthony
scored 16 points and had 7 assists tonight. He played more of a team game tonight and looked much better tonight then past nights. As the leader of the team he has to continue to play with intensity.
Amare Stoudemire scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Stoudemire played very strong in the post and had about five dunks tonight. This is the type of game the Knicks need from Stoudemire. He provided the nice effort that he has struggled to provide over the last couple of games.
The Blazers were terrible tonight and they look really bad. The Knicks took advantage tonight of a very poor effort from the Blazers. JR Smith and Steve Novak put on a show from behind the arc. Combined the two scored 45 points and hit 13 three pointers. Smith scored 25 points and Novak scored 20 points and they showed that they could be a deadly duo off the bench.
Now the Knicks will have to focus their attention to the Indiana Pacers who they face on Friday and Saturday. This game will be in the memories of many because this can be the moment that saved their season.
