Knicks lose again; Fall to 76ers 106-94

The New York Knicks returned home to Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon as they took on the Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks were trying to avoid a five game losing streak, but somehow found a way to lose this game. Carmelo Anthony played very well in the opening quarter as he scored 12 points, but found himself on the bench for most of the second quarter which broke up any flow that he previously had. Anthony ended the game scoring 22 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.

This game is very alarming for Knick fans simply because the team showed signs of quit today. Chants of “Fire D’Antoni” rang through the arena late in the game. And in the intros Carmelo Anthony was booed. This franchise is on the brink of falling completely flat and changes may be needed. If changing the coach means a better finish then be my guest. But why change a coach in the middle of a shortened season? That would mean implementing a new style and culture that may not work.

Jeremy Lin seems to be doing way too much and is falling right into the defensive traps. Lin played overly poor, but managed to score 14 points and dish out 7 assists. He committed 6 turnovers and most of those came on terrible passes. The Knicks need to find a solution fast before they really fade away. This game was poorly played by Amare Stoudemire who scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Stoudemire was awful on the defensive end and continues to get his shots blocked. His effort is in question right now. He continues to get beat on the defensive end and is struggling to box the right man out. As a team the Knicks need to figure out what Stoudemire is doing wrong and help him out.

In his return to the lineup today Tyson Chandler scored 8 points and grabbed 12 rebounds today. This was a terrible game from the Knicks stand point because in the first half they played hard, but the second half they played a poor all around game. The next game is tomorrow where the Knicks will travel to Chicago to take on the Bulls at 8:00 PM.
