The New York Mets have signed P Chris Young to a minor league deal. This is a very low risk, high reward type of signing. Young is coming off only four starts last season with the Mets in which he had an era of 1.88. Young is coming off a shoulder injury last season which caused him to miss much of the season. If Young can pitch with zero pain and can be effective, he can be a very viable option as the fifth starter.
