The New York Knicks will try to stop the losing tonight as they take on the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden. After going on an unbelievable run the Knicks have fallen flat on their faces. Earlier today Yahoo! Sports broke news that the Knicks and Mike D’Antoni have parted ways. In correspondence to that move the Knicks named Mike Woodson as the interim head coach.
This game will be a big for Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. In the last game both somehow found themselves out of the offense for what ever reason. Tonight they need to be aggressive and provide the energy the Knicks have lacked during this losing streak. The mixture hasn’t worked out this season and adding Jeremy Lin to the mix hasn’t proven itself yet. There is absolute concern surrounding the Knicks franchise and what success lies ahead remains to be seen. Now that D’Antoni is gone Jeremy Lin will have a tough time of things simply because he will be playing off the ball most of the time.
Jared Jeffries will make his return to the lineup after he missed the last four games with a sore knee. He will be very key to the Knicks down the stretch simply because of his defensive abilities. Over the last four games the Knicks have struggled terribly on the defensive end. They could use a guy like Jeffries to bring the intangibles to the court tonight.
