Pre-Game: Cavaliers vs. Knicks 7:30 PM

The New York Knicks will try to win tonight as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers. Coming off a 100-90 lost to the Atlanta Hawks the Knicks will try to get a win tonight against a lesser opponent in the Cavaliers.

Carmelo Anthony is coming off an excellent game where he scored 36 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. But the real stat was his 5 steals. Anthony seems to be more aggressive on the defensive end and is playing really well. As the leader of the team Anthony has to continue to play well and try to get the team wins. Carmelo AnthonyHe did an excellent job in helping get the Knicks back in the game last night, but because the rest of the team struggled they lost the game. Tonight Anthony will likely be the focal point in the offense again. He will get his points, but the rest of the team has to be effective to win this game.

Last night Iman Shumpert played yet another great game as he scored 25 points for the second consecutive night. Shumpert seems to have a much better shot, over the last two games. Defensively Shumpert has really been locked in. At one point in the game last night Shumpert guarded Josh Smith and really never allowed him to score. His versatility on the defensive end really makes him very effective on this team. Tonight Shumpert will have to continue to be effective on both ends of the floor. His offense has really taken off these past games hopefully tonight Shumpert can really keep that up.

The second unit will have to be effective tonight. Last night they struggled to score and play consistent defense. As they play tonight it is very important that they play a very effective defense. With Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert now starting, the rest of the bench has struggled to play with the same effort defensively. Tonight look for Toney Douglas to play more of a role. After last night’s loss Mike Woodson made it known that Douglas will likely see an increase in his role for tonight’s game. Douglas has lost his place in the Knicks rotation after the emergence of Jeremy Lin. Right now is the time Douglas can show everyone that he can still help this team win. So when he steps on the floor tonight, Douglas needs to put in 100% effort and help get the team a win.

Tonight’s game can be watched on MSG at 7:30 PM as the Knicks try to get a win against the Cavaliers. The Knicks are hoping to get their seventh win in a row at home against a team they have to beat. Kyrie Irving will be at his best and the Knicks will have to do everything they can to stop him. Let’s go Knicks!
