The Mets have announced that Tim Byrdak is suffering from a sore left knee and Kirk Nieuwenhuis has an injured right oblique. Both players are listed as day-to-day. The injuries are starting to pile up for the Mets to start the season. Byrdak and Nieuwenhuis join David Wright, Lucas Duda, Andres Torres and Scott Hairston all out with injuries. This is not the way the Mets want to start the season, but they also don’t want to press these players to worsen their injuries. The Mets will play the Miami Marlins today at 1:10 PM.
