The Miami Heat defeated the New York Knicks 104-94 to go up 2-0 in the best of seven series. Tonight the Miami Heat dominated the painted area and shut the Knicks down in the second half. Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 25 points and really dominated getting to the basket. Wade really took advantage of the subpar Knick defense and really went into the weak spots of their defense.
The Knicks played as a team in the first half of the game, but in the second half they went to isolation that really made them easier to guard. They are a team right now that do not know their identity. Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points tonight, but really struggled to score in the second half. This game had a better effort from the Knicks, but they still couldn’t get the job done. This group of Knicks really are in troublesome spot in that they haven’t been able play any good defense. They allowed 50 points in the paint and that really was their downfall. This game really was intense from the opening tip, but the Heat were never threatened by the Knicks. The Heat made shots when they had to, as the Knicks never were able to make shots to get them over the hump.
LeBron James dominated from an all around standpoint. James scored 19 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists. These first two games have shown that James is really locked in on both ends of the floor. Tonight James continued to show that he can guard anyone the Knicks had on the court. His effort right now is unmatchable and he is just destroying the Knicks defense. James can’t be stopped right now and there is absolutely no one on the Knicks roster who can stop him.
With this lost to the Heat the Knicks now have lost 12 straight playoff games tying an NBA record. The Heat now have a 2-0 advantage going to New York. Now the Knicks have to defend their home court starting Thursday in hopes of getting back into the series.
