The New York Knicks welcomed back Amare Stoudemire tonight, but the Knicks would lose a game they should have won. The Knicks came out flat on both ends of the floor. The Knicks defense was very bad and their effort was really bad. The Knicks were out hustled and failed to keep this game close.
The defense was really bad in this game and the Knicks couldn’t get locked in defensively. As the regular season ends the Knicks need to find a consistent defense over the next four games and get back to winning baseball. Carmelo Anthony struggled for the first time in a while as he scored 12 points and committed 4 turnovers. He never was able to get locked in offensively and that resulted in a terrible defensive game. Mike Woodson never put Anthony in the game in the fourth quarter, but that may have been because the Knicks were down by double digits.
Amare Stoudemire played fairly well in his return, but he struggled mightily on the defensive end. In his return Stoudemire scored 15 points and recorded 4 blocks. It will be very interesting to see if Stoudemire can get back in form quickly and help the Knicks make a nice playoff run. Stoudemire seemed to have no effects of his injured back. Tonight was the first step for Stoudemire after he missed 13 games.
The Knicks have to bounce back and continue to win. This game was a huge let down, but the Knicks have to stay positive and move on from this lost. The Knicks will now face the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon. This was a game the Knicks could have used a spark offensively and they were unable to get that.
