The New York Knicks completely blew out the Washington Wizards tonight at the Garden. This marks the ninth straight win at home for the Knicks. Tonight Baron Davis celebrated his birthday as he scored 18 points in 22 minutes of action. Davis really showed that he could help the team with scoring when they needed him to shoot. Davis had four three pointers which is a season high. If Davis can help the team with scoring in some games, they could have a very potent offense.
Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points in 28 minutes of actions. He never had to score much tonight simply because this game was over with as soon as it started. The terrible news for the Knicks was that Iman Shumpert went down with a sprained ankle and never returned. The injury didn’t seem to serious as Shumpert walked off under his own power.
This game also saw great performances from JR Smith and Steve Novak. Both scored over 18 points tonight as Smith scored a team high 23 points. They both made a combined 7 three pointers which really made the lead bigger. They are two big pieces off the bench and have to play well to give the Knicks the added punch off the bench.
Tonight the Knicks faced an inferior opponent and they overmatched them from the start. The Knicks will have their hands full on Sunday as they will face the Miami Heat that afternoon. For now the Knicks are in 7th place and continue to move up the standings with every win they get. This was a feel good night as the Knicks defeated the Wizards easily.
