The New York Knicks and Miami Heat will face off today starting a best of seven series. Tyson Chandler is a game-time decision, but reports suggest that he will play. If Chandler is unable to go the Knicks will have a huge hole in their defense that could possibly cost them a chance to win.
Carmelo Anthony is playing the best basketball of his Knicks career right now. There is absolutely no question Anthony will be unstoppable this series, but Anthony will not be able to do it on his own. Amare Stoudemire has to be productive on both ends of the floor. He can not allow Chris Bosh to score more then himself otherwise the Heat will win. Anthony and Stoudemire are two big focal points on the Knicks offense, but offense will not be the concern. The concern will be their ability to play defense. Mainly Stoudemire who has struggled at times on the defense. Today Stoudemire has to be energized and focused on that end of the floor. He can not allow easy baskets which will give the Heat every chance to win this game and series.
The Knicks do have an advantage in this series in that they shoot the ball well. Steve Novak and JR Smith will be the x-factors in this series. Their production against the Heat bench will allow the Knicks to give Anthony and Stoudemire longer rests. These two have been a deadly combination this season and today shouldn’t be any different. The Heat struggle in stopping the three and today expect the Knicks to get plenty of open opportunities.
This is a big game today for both teams. The Heat are looking to protect home court, while the Knicks are trying to steal a game on the road. This should be a very intense game with both teams trying their best to win the game. Expect the second unit for the Knicks having a huge role in this game. This game will be televised on ABC at 3:30 PM. Let’s go Knicks!
