The New York Mets will play the third game of a four game series today at Citi Field. This game was supposed to have been played last night, but the rain caused the Mets to schedule a doubleheader today. This game will start at 4:10 PM and will be on SNY and on radio WFAN 660.
Miguel Batista will get the spot start today in what will be his first start of the season. In what will be his seventh game of the season Batista has allowed just 3 runs in six appearances this season. He has pitched very well out of the bullpen and can be a very solid spot starter for the Mets. Today he will face Tim Lincecum who is struggling this season. In three starts this season Lincecum has allowed 16 earned runs and has a 0-2 record. The Mets will have to make it tough on Lincecum today if they want to win.
The Mets lineup will be different in this first game as Mike Baxter gets the start in left field. And Kirk Nieuwenhuis will leadoff for the Mets in this first game. The offense needs to get runs in this game otherwise this could be a very long game.
Mets Lineup:
- Kirk Nieuwenhuis CF
- Daniel Murphy 2B
- David Wright 3B
- Lucas Duda RF
- Ike Davis 1B
- Josh Thole C
- Ruben Tejada SS
- Mike Baxter LF
- Miguel Batista P
