The New York Mets will continue their three game series tonight against the Miami Marlins. The Mets are coming off a nice 2-1 comeback win. After trailing by one run the Mets were able to come back on a Lucas Duda infield single. That game the Mets really took advantage of some poor pitching by the Marlins. At one point in the game the Marlins walked four batters. Tonight the Mets have to continue to execute on pitches in the zone and look to draw walks. There is no question that this team can not draw walks, but they can sometimes be too patient which then causes strikeouts.
R.A. Dickey will get the start tonight looking to rebound from a horrible start against the Braves. In his last start Dickey allowed 8 runs in 4.1 innings. Tonight Dickey has to get back to throwing the ball well and make the Marlins work for hits. This game will come down to the success Dickey has with his knuckleball. This game Dickey needs to be the leader and keep the Mets in the game in hopes that they can score some runs tonight.
The offense for the Mets has been very tough to watch over the last few games. Ike Davis and Lucas Duda have really struggled in the middle of the lineup. Tonight Davis will be batting 7th which is very low for him, but if he can have success manager Terry Collins wouldn’t mind moving him back up. This is a big day for both Davis and Duda. They need to have success today and get the Mets some runs. This struggle at the plate has to end at sometime and tonight is the night they should look to heat up.
This game will be televised on SNY at 7:10 PM and will be on WFAN 660 AM. The Mets can take care of this series with a win tonight. Let’s go Mets!
