The New York Mets will play the Atlanta Braves in the third and final game of the series this afternoon. For the Mets, they are coming off a lost to the Braves in which Johan Santana struggled. Today the Mets are looking to rebound off that tough lost and move on to the next series after today’s game.
R.A. Dickey will get the ball for the Mets today looking to get his third win of the season. Dickey has been very good this season and his knuckleball is moving really good. In both of his starts this season Dickey has been able to command his knuckleball. Today that has to be a key for him because if Dickey can’t throw the knuckleball, the Mets will be in trouble.
This game is the rubber game of the series which means who ever wins today will win the series. So far in the series both teams have been able to win the games handily, but today’s game may be very close. The Mets are looking to get their eighth win of the season today and have a great opportunity to do so. As the season goes along it is very key that the Mets win series.
For the Mets offense Kirk Nieuwenhuis will lead off for the Mets as Ruben Tejada gets the day off. It will be very interesting to what Nieuwenhuis can do in that spot today. Basically the lineup is unchanged because the middle of their lineup is still strong. This game will be televised on SNY at 12:10 PM in which the Mets are looking to close out this series with a win. Let’s go Mets!
