The New York Mets will take on the Atlanta Braves this evening looking to rebound from their loss to the Phillies yesterday afternoon. The Mets bullpen gave up the lead and caused the Mets to lose the game yesterday. But there were some plays that the Mets were unable to make that caused runs to score.
Today Dillon Gee will go to the mound after losing in his last start. Tonight Gee has to pitch well and keep the ball down in the zone. Gee has to throw all of his pitches and keep the Braves hitters off balanced. His changeup is possibly his best pitch, so tonight Gee has to throw that pitch for a strike. As Gee matures in the major leagues it is very important that he learns to throw all of his pitches. A good pitcher has a slew of good pitches he can go to. Gee needs to continue to get better and hopefully can be with the Mets for years to come.
In this series against the Braves the Mets have to be great pitchers. In the first series of the season the Mets were able to sweep the Braves because they pitched well. This series needs the Mets to pitch well and continue a great start to the season by the entire pitching staff. The bullpen has to be better then the last game and try to keep the Mets with the lead.
After getting a two runs in the first inning from Ike Davis in last night’s game, the Mets were unable to get anymore runs. Tonight they have to get better in getting runs over the entire course of the game. David Wright continues to have an incredible start. Wright had two more hits last night and continues to hit the ball really well this season. At this point Wright is hitting .571 at the plate and is completely locked in. The Mets have benefitted from Wright at this point in the season. Tonight expect Wright to continue to collect hits.
This game will be televised on SNY and will be on WFAN 660 AM. Tommy Hanson starts for the Braves looking to get revenge against the Mets who beat him earlier in the season. Let’s go Mets!
