Pre-Game: Mets vs. Braves 7:10 PM

The New York Mets will continue their series with the Braves tonight at Turner Field. After their win last night the Mets are looking forward to trying to beat the Braves tonight. This series has started very good for the Mets, but tonight they have to come out again and play the same way.

For the Mets tonight Johan Santana will get his third start of the season. His brilliance has been on display to start the season, but in his starts the Mets have struggled to get him run support. Over his first two starts Santana has allowed just one run this season. He has a 0-1 record and is looking for his first win of the season tonight. So far Santana has performed like the Santana of old, but right now he has stamina issues that is to be expected. As the season goes on look for Santana to start piling on wins. Right now his record doesn’t support his numbers, but at the rate he is going look for a better record by seasons end.

This season the offense for the Mets has been consistently good. They are driving in runs and are hitting homeruns. Anytime the Mets can hit homeruns, it makes them a very good team. So far this season the hitting and pitching have been very good and that combination has given the Mets a 7-3 record this season.

Jason Bay hit his second homerun this season in last night’s game. Bay seems to be driving the ball really well to start the season. Maybe now since Bay is getting results, he can get back to being the power hitter the Mets could use. The power hasn’t just been from Bay, but Ike Davis hit his second homerun of the season last night. Davis started the season in a very big slump, but after hitting a homerun against the Phillies on Sunday, Davis has hit a homerun in two consecutive games. If Davis and Bay become a solid power in the Mets lineup, the Mets will be very dangerous.

Tonight the Mets will look to continue to beat up on the Braves. The Mets are now 4-0 against the Braves this season and have pitched them very well to start the season. This game will be on SNY at 7:10 PM and will be on WFAN 660 AM. Let’s go Mets!
