Pre-Game: Mets vs. Rockies 8:40 PM

image

The New York Mets will play the Colorado Rockies tonight at Coors Field. The Mets are coming off a very impressive three game sweep of the Miami Marlins. Over those three games the Mets trailed in every game and despite that were able to comeback and win. Tonight the Mets face the 9-9 Rockies in what could be a very interesting series.

The Mets will start Chris Schwinden tonight as he replaces Mike Pelfrey. Last season Schwinden made four starts last season and was never able to get any wins. Tonight Schwinden needs to be effective with throwing strikes and making the Rockies put the ball in play. Last season Schwinden gave up 23 hits resulting in 11 runs. This is a start where Schwinden can make and impression and show the Mets that he can be a reliable starter.

The Mets offense has struggled to score in games this season. Most of their runs in the last series came against the Marlins bullpen. They have to get runs off starters in order to be a good consistent offense. David Wright will have to lead this offense in this series. Tonight the offense will face a left handed pitcher in Drew Pomeranz. The Mets have tons of left handed hitters and tonight they will have to get on base and hope to generate runs by stealing bases and getting hits.

This could be a nice series win for the Mets if they are able to generate runs and support their starting pitching. As the season rolls along the Mets have to win series and keep getting wins. This game will be on SNY at 8:40 PM and will be on WFAN 660 AM. Let’s go Mets!
