Pre-Game: Nationals vs. Mets 1:10 PM

image

The New York Mets will finish up their three game series tonight against the Washington Nationals. Last night the Mets struggled on offense and defense. Most importantly Daniel Murphy made a couple of mistakes at second base that cost the Mets some runs. But Lucas Duda also made a mistake in right field that resulted in a run. Both players have defensive deficiencies, but can hit. Over time both should learn their position well and get better.

Today the Mets will have their ace Johan Santana on the mound as he will face off against Stephan Strasberg. Santana is coming off a well pitched opening day in which he didn’t allow any runs against the Braves. The Mets need Santana to be sharp today in hopes of getting this win. The important thing for Santana today is that he needs to control the strike zone. If he is going to give the Mets an opportunity to win he will need to pitch very well today.

The offense for the Mets should be much better today with Ike Davis returning to the lineup. Even though he hasn’t recorded a hit this season, the chances of him hitting a homerun are always high. Tonight the Mets have Davis is hitting cleanup which could be a very good spot for him. The Mets need Davis to get out of his slump today and help the team get a win.

This game will be televised on SNY today and will be on radio station WFAN 660. The Mets have a chance to win their second series of the season today. The chances of them doing that are really high. Let’s go Mets!
