The New York Mets will continue their three game series with the Washington Nationals tonight at Citi Field. The Mets are winners of four straight games to start their season. At this moment they are first in the division and can continue to grow their lead with another win tonight.
Dillon Gee will step on the mound today for the Mets. Gee is coming off a very successful rookie campaign last season. Today Gee will face a team that he has three wins against and tonight can make it four with an excellent start. Gee has to be an effective fifth pitcher for the Mets. He is a very good pitcher and if he can command his changeup, the Mets will likely win this game tonight.
The bullpen has been spectacular this season. So far over the first four games they have given up just one run. Ramon Ramirez, Jon Rauch, Tim Byrdak, Frank Francisco, and Bobby Parnell have all had success out of the bullpen this season. Tonight they will have to stay sharp as they try to get the Mets their fifth straight win. So far the Mets new bullpen looks solid and hopefully they can keep it up.![]()
David Wright and Daniel Murphy have been an excellent combination this season. Collectively they are 14 of 30 from the plate this season. They have hit the ball to all fields this season and are locked in from the plate. If they continue this excellent hitting, the Mets will have a very solid two and three hitter. Not to mention Ike Davis in the fourth spot. Today Davis will get the day off with the Mets facing a left-handed pitcher in Ross Detwiler. This season Davis has struggled to hit. So far this season Davis hasn’t recorded a hit. This could be a good thing because while Wright and Murphy are playing well, Davis is struggling and the team is still winning. If Davis can get hot over the next week or so, the Mets will have a very tough offense to stop.
Tonight’s game will be televised on SNY and can be heard on WFAN 660. The Mets are looking to get a win tonight and keep the good times rolling. Let’s go Mets!
