The New York Knicks finally snapped a 13 consecutive playoff losing streak with their 89-87 win over the Heat. This was by far the best the Knicks looked in this series and they finally put in the effort to get the win. Carmelo Anthony led the team today as he scored 41 points. Anthony hit big shots in the fourth quarter and made plays to get the Knicks the win. He really showed up today in all aspects of the game.
The Knicks also had an excellent effort from Amare Stoudemire who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. This was a nice return for Stoudemire who played better defense in this game. The Knicks were given 61 points from their two stars and that effort gave them the win. The start of the game was a real struggle for the Knicks, but they were able to get the ball moving and that produced baskets.
The Heat really never gave up in this game and tried their best to get this win. LeBron James scored 27 points tonight as he really played a nice game. James continues to power his way through the Knicks defense for easy baskets. His teammate Dwyane Wade scored 22 points and dished out 6 assists. Both James and Wade played well, but other than Chris Bosh the rest of the team really struggled. The bench for the Heat scored 9 points for the game. That effort has to be picked up from them if they want to help the team.
In injury news, Baron Davis left in the third quarter after dislocating his right patella in his right knee. Davis went down in pain after running down the court. He was taken off the court on a stretcher and never returned. Mike Bibby took over for Davis and really did an excellent job in his opportunity. Bibby made a very huge three in the fourth quarter that at the time put the Knicks up by three points. His effort tonight was really good and he really made a nice impression with his minutes.
The next game will be on Wednesday night on TNT. The Knicks somehow continued their season, but in the process lost another point guard. This game today could be the start of something special or the beginning of the end for the Knicks. Again the Knicks avoid elimination as they beat the Heat 89-87.
