The New York Mets got the job done today against the Miami Marlins. They put forth a nice effort on the offensive side today. Leading the way for the Mets was David Wright. He continues to dominate the plate and is really on a nice pace at the plate. Today Wright had four hits tonight and really set the tone for the Mets offensively. Wright had a homerun and an RBI single in this game. This was a very nice showing from the Mets leader and face of the franchise. Right now Wright is playing his best baseball and is giving the Mets the nice touch on both sides of the field.
R.A. Dickey received his fifth win with a six inning performance. Dickey allowed just two runs and he continues to give the Mets his best in every start. As the season rolls along it is very important for Dickey to have great starts. Today he really gave the Mets an opportunity to win and they were able to accomplish that today. Surprisingly Dickey didn’t record any strikeouts despite his excellent knuckleball. Dickey is now 5-1 on the season and has the best record on the team.
This Mets team offensively had 16 hits today. David Wright, Lucas Duda, and Daniel Murphy all had three hits or more today. That trio really got the job done today and that really helped get runs across as the three accounted for four runs today. This group of Mets continue to win despite having no recognition from analyst. Right now this team is proving the doubters wrong and are making a case to become the best team in their division.
