The New York Mets today took care of the Cincinnati Reds in what was their 12th comeback win of the season. The Mets fell behind by four runs today, but were able to beat up on a very good Reds bullpen. The Mets had the clutch hits today that they haven’t been able to get over the last couple of games. This was a very nice effort by this team. David Wright continues to swing a hot bat as he notched two more hits today, bringing his average to .411. Wright really saw the ball well today and that provided the Mets with excellent opportunities to win this game. His leadership is rubbing off on the other players and everyone is stepping up their games. Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, and Ronny Cedeno all had two-hit games today. All three were very good in getting on base to create scoring opportunities for the guys batting behind them.
R.A. Dickey struggled at times in this game, but made pitches to keep his team in the game. Dickey went six innings allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits. Dickey continues to give the Mets quality starts and today he put forth a nice effort to get his team a win. Dickey walked away with a no decision, but his effort really kept the Mets in the game. Not only did Dickey perform well, but the bullpen finally had a nice effort today. Jon Rauch, Bobby Parnell, and Frank Francisco all had scoreless innings of work today. Their performances really put the team in a position to comeback and without that they would have lost.
*Scoring Summary:
WP: Bobby Parnell (1-0)
LP: Logan Ondrusek (3-1)
