The New York Knicks will take on the Miami Heat tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Heat currently lead 2-0 in the seven game series against the Knicks, but tonight the Knicks can get back in the series with a win. The Knicks will play without Amare Stoudemire for this game and possibly game four after he lacerated his hand after the Knicks loss on Monday night.
Tonight the Knicks will have to be led by Carmelo Anthony. As the leader of the team Anthony needs to be involved on both sides of the court. This series has been tough on him so far, but tonight is the night he steps his game up and proves that he can lead his team to victory. Since Mike Woodson has taken over the Knicks are 11-1 at home and tonight will need to play hard and get that 12th win. This team has struggled on the defensive end, but tonight look for improvement from them.
Steve Novak and JR Smith will have to pick up the scoring load tonight in the wake of Stoudemire’s absence. Smith has played well this series while Novak hasn’t been able to score in double figures in two games. They have to be on top of their game tonight, if the Knicks are going to have any chance to win tonight. The production out of the second unit will be key. Novak will likely be starting tonight, so the Knicks will have to get something out of someone else. Josh Harrellson will likely see an increase in minutes tonight and that could be a good thing for the Knicks. Harrellson is very good in that he can knock shots down and rebound the ball. Harrellson hasn’t played much since he returned from his injured wrist, but tonight expect to see much of Harrellson.
This game will test the Knicks mentally and physically, but they have to stay strong and stick together as a team. A lost tonight will put the Knicks down 3-0 and will give them 13 straight playoff losses. This game will be televised on MSG and TNT at 7:00 PM. The Knicks are looking for a win, but will have to stop LeBron James and Dwyane Wade if they are going to have any chance. Let’s go Knicks!
